OAK TREE GENERAL INFORMATION

All children are placed on roll at Dawley Brook Primary school. If you would like to explore your child being placed within Oak Tree SEND Base, you must speak with their SEND Case Officer for further information and to request the setting to be named as part of the SEND Process. At this time, Oak Tree Base is commissioned by Dudley Local Authority to provide 12 places which are all taken (September 2024).  â€‹

Children taught in Oak Tree will have significant developmental need where they have struggled to make progress within a mainstream-only setting. Our specialised staff have training and experience to support children to thrive. Children are taught by a Specialist Teacher, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Level 2 TAs. Our knowledgeable SENDCo provides additional advice and support to children, staff and parents.

Our leadership team including the Governing Board have overall responsibility for the well-being and education of children in Oak Tree Base.

Children are taught in a dedicated classroom with it's own outdoor space. Next to the classroom there is a Care room with shower, toilet and changing facilities as well as 2 further rooms where children eat and do targeted activities. Also next to the classroom are 2 sensory rooms which are currently being developed. Access to the space is through a dedicated entrance straight from the School Car Park. Vehicles bringing children to Oak Tree SEND Base can park in one of the school's accessible spaces next to the entrance.

Oak Tree SEND Base follows the same Policies and Procedures as the mainstream school. Where needed, adaptations are made to ensure this is supporting children's education and wellbeing.
